Take cranberry pills and drink lots of water it helps clean out your urinary track or you can drink about fifteen to tweety beers and pee it out that way too. But the pills are the key it worked for me.

David asks…
I quit smoking cold turkey…?
and yes I was addicted to nicotine and have not had a cigarette since. My question is: why can’t other people quit smoking cold turkey like I did? Why is it so hard for them? I was addicted, I smoked like a chimney, and I stopped cold turkey, it probably helped me quit even more I developed asthma from it, but still why can’t others just stop like I did?
I haven’t smoked in like a year and a half.

Simply, different people have different levels of will power versus addictions. Kudos that you had the will power to quit outright, but others have weaker wills.
When I had to surrender sugar due to diabetes (it was my primary food staple), I did it outright, and have not faltered in the four years since. A coworker went through the same thing for diabetes, but was back to his candy bar and mountain dew lunches in about a week.
He’s also failed at giving up smoking, losing weight, or lowering cholesterol, even after he almost lost a leg 3 months back. Zero will power.
There are other factors as well, but whichever is higher, will power or addiction, that’s what will win out.

Help! I JUST quit smoking COLD TURKEY.?
Im 22 years old and I’ve been smoking for almost three years. 30 minutes ago, I smoked the last of my cigarettes and have decided to quit smoking cold turkey. Im scared of how I will handle from here because I’ve tried to quit a few times before but could never resist the nicotine. Please advise on what I should expect and how I can avoid smoking again.
AndrewTraub answers:
Thats how I quit, about 26 years ago.
The worst of it is over in 3 days and the rest of the habit is just that, a habit.
Here is what helped me.
Find somehting to do with your hands to occupy them. I cut quilt squares. Sometimes I crocheted. Since You are a guy(I assume) you will have to find something else. BE creative and don’t worry about looking stupid doing it. It will help.
Find an alternative to when you want a cigarette really bad. Sunfower seeds, gum, a series of deep breathing. Go take a brisk walk or run.
Some people wear a rubber band around thier wrist and snap it. It associates wanting a cigarette with pain from the snapping rubber band and suppose to help. Couldn’t hurt anyway.
I had certain times where I REALLY needed a smoke. First thing in the morning, after each meal and that last 1 before bed for sure. Find a really interesting alternative for those times. What worked for me was to get really busy right away in the morning and jump up and do the dishes right after each meal and brushing my teeth extra carefully (to the point of being analy retentive about it) before bed.
The first morning I woke up and DID NOT think about cigarette the first thing I knew I had it licked. That was after a 2 pack a day habit for about 15 years. And for you it will be so much cheaper. Think of all the money you can save. Here in Rochester MN, most cigarettes are 5 bucks a pack. Thats $150 a month and $1800 in a year. That is serious money my friend.

Maria asks…
I quit smoking cold turkey and it was really easy!?
I smoked a cigarrette once and then instead of going for a second one, I quit. Just like that! It was so easy! I just don’t understand what the big deal is. People who smoke must have absolutely no self-discipline! What’s so hard about quitting smoking?
lol! In case you couldn’t tell, I was just joking around. Like I’d really be addicted after one cigarette.
In all seriousness though, it bothers me that the big tobacco companies make their products so addictive on purpose to make it impossible for people to quit. The government needs to step in and regulate the levels of addictiveness of cigarrettes so that people who want to smoke can still smoke, but people who want to quit can quit.
AndrewTraub answers:
After 5 failed attempts at smoking and it defiantly was not because of self discipline, i too was able to quit cold turkey and found it easy also but unlike you i would never tout to people that you have no idea why many other people find it so hard that is so disrespectful and dumb and would probably make the “struggling trying hard to give up” person reach for a smoke, try being sympathetic instead of just pathetic?? And oh! Grow up also.

Thomas asks…
is is better to quit smoking cold turkey or slowly when pregnant?
AndrewTraub answers:
It is better to quit as quickly as possible, stories about going cold turkey being harmful to the baby are not true at all and if a woman can give up straightaway then that is fantastic.
The problem is that smoking is obviously very addictive and different methods of giving up work better for different people, some who try to go cold turkey will fail and need to step down gradually and it is most important to do it in a way that is going to be successful.
